As our understanding of color mixing was turned on its head by Blue & Yellow Don't Make Green, Michael Wilcox offers an entirely new way of deciding color arrangements to create both harmony and contrast with the only complete artist's guide to selecting, mixing and using color. Based on the way that colors of nature are related, this book teaches you how to achieve perfect color in your art. You not only understand the color relationships of plants, animals and nature, but learn how to mix and apply those colors to your paintings.
@bod: Suitable for any medium, you will find over 1,000 color arrangements and 400 illustrated examples together with easy-to-follow instruction and guidelines for mixing and using color best in your own paintings. Learn from famous artists' work, like Monet, and then, by applying the same approach to your art, you can extract everything possible from a color combination.
Michael Wilcox has experienced a widely varied background, including periods as a professional artist, a conservator of art works and an engineer. His research towards a post graduate diploma in art and design led to the book Blue & Yellow Don't Make Green followed by The Wilcox Guide to the Best Watercolor Paints both of which led to the many recent changes in the pigments used in artist paints. Wilcox has also published The Artist's Guide to Selecting Colors, a guide, which shows the selection of a suitable palette in all mediums - watercolors, oil paints, acrylics and more. He lives and continues his research and writing in Bristol, United Kingdom. |
